A Teachers course is to be held on the 18th June 2007 at the Grove school, Newark. It is hoped that a similar course will be held in Lincolnshire in the autumn and it is hoped that local schools may also benefit from next year's coaching and tournament programme in the county.

North Kesteven Outreach Programme

The Hodgson Elkington Junior Sports Programme helped sponsor the under 10’s Football Festival which took place on Monday 5th March 2007 at Lincoln City Football Club. This is the showcase event for the four weeks of coaching offered to the participating schools. Twenty two schools took part and the exciting final was won by North Hykeham All Saints who beat St Peter’s at Gowt in a penalty shootout.

The first introduction to angling day took place at Woodlands Waters, Ancaster on the 11th April 2007 in conjunction with the Environment Agency. The event was promoted to schools, and twelve children were chosen to participate, each receiving one to one tuition throughout the day. Apart from assisting with the funding, Hodgson Elkington were also able to give each participant a copy of the book "Fishing Forever" by David Churchill. Hopefully many who took part will now become converts to the sport.

Newark & Notts Show

Horse rider participants and organisers of the Mounted Games Association event held at Newark Showground at the weekend were praised by Hodgson Elkington, chartered surveyors who sponsored the event. Six teams competed and Leicestershire won by one point to Nottinghamshire on the last game.

“The games were exciting and the competitors performed well in an event that was extremely well run and coordinated. From a spectators point of view it was great fun to watch despite the weather being very windy,” said Peter Hornby, partner at Hodgson Elkington who sponsor an event each year. Peter presented prizes to the winners and all participants. Mary Worth of the Mounted Games Association provided the commentary all the way through and introduced Peter to the riders and ponies afterwards.

“The event was well received and the Association has been invited back next year by the Newark and Nottinghamshire Show organisers.
