March 2012 Update
It's been a very busy start to Spring for the Junior Sports Programme with the Trust providing assistance as follows:
Athletics
Lee Cupit is a 16 year old paralympic shot putter, ranked 5th in the world junior rankings. Lee suffers from cerebral palsey and hemiplegia. He trains six days per week, two of which are with the legendary Geoff Capes.The Junior Sports Programme was able to assist Lee by providing a new Polanik steel shot and shot bag for what promises to be a very competitive season in 2012.
Hockey
The Mount School received a contribution so they could purchase a goalkeeper’s helmet for their new hockey team. They also received a JSP Fair Play medal to be awarded to their chosen player.
We will also be providing Fair Play Award shields for the Newark Otters and Beavers awards evening in April.
Squash
Eastgate Squash Club received a contribution towards trophies and medals for their junior finals to be held in May
Badminton
Cross Rackets Club received a contribution towards their junior badminton programme.
University of Lincoln
Sports Science students from the University of Lincoln, undertook projects in dodgeball, pop lacrosse, and tag rugby in local schools. Tournaments were held in each and the Junior Sports Programme assisted with the provision of JSP medals for the winners.
Football
Gonerby Girls Football team were provided with new hoodies with individual initials on all items with the JSP logo. We were pleased to be of assistance.
Rugby
Sleaford Under 14’s rugby team were assisted with a contribution towards their training tops for their Easter Tour of Ireland.
Pop Lacrosse
The Junior Sports Programme Pop Lacrosse Loan Kit has been used by the Queen Eleanor family of schools in Stamford. Equioment was also loaned to the University of Lincoln student’s project at Cherry Willingham School. It will also be used for the Stamford Easter Junior Sports Programme.
