Junior Sports Programme charity dinner raises £12,000
The first Junior Sports Programme Charity Dinner and Auction, organised by Hodgson Elkington, was held at the DoubleTree Hilton on Thursday 23rd January.
The event was attended by 160 guests who were treated to a memorable address by the triple medal winning Paralympian, Sophie Wells, who helped set the tone for a very lively and active auction of promises and treats.
Senior Partner of Hodgson Elkington and Trustee of Junior Sports Programme, Sam Elkington, commented “This was an exceptional fete. To raise £12,000 on the evening for the Junior Sports Programme Trust, which benefits junior sports throughout Lincolnshire and eastern Nottinghamshire, was tremendous."
We will now be able to help support local clubs, organisations and individuals in their quest for participation in local sports and activities.
We were aided by a number of significant donations from local businesses, which were greatly appreciated. Similarly, the Partners and staff of Hodgson Elkington give their time free of charge to the running and organisation of the charity. It is very rewarding to see how the business community gets behind such an event when we are looking to raise funds."
In total £12,000 was raised on the evening and Marie Gutteridge, Trustee of the Junior Sports Programme Trust, will now be looking for local clubs and activities to help and support over the coming year. Newsletters will also be issues to local sporting clubs to see if appropriate levels of support can be provided.
