Badminton has again featured in the Junior Sports Programme’s activities and we are pleased to be able to help15 year old Chen Chen with a contribution towards his competition travel expenses. He has just started to compete on the Junior National Circuit and recently attained his first medal at the Essex U17 Bronze on 10^th Dec 2023. On the way, he beat multiple players nationally ranked at a higher level.

He started one-to-one coaching in Oct 2023 with Chris Smith (University of Lincoln, School of Sport & Exercise Science), who coached Harley Towler, a former player on the Great Britain World Class Programme. Harley is one of Chen Chen’s greatest role models and it’s his dream to follow in his footsteps and to become the 2^nd world class badminton player that his coach has produced.
