Hodgson Elkington’s Junior Sports Programme, is now working with CP Sport (Cerebral Palsy Sport) to promote table cricket in Lincolnshire.

Event
Photographic innovation in capturing special moments in junior sports events held in the region were recognised and sports for young people advanced thanks to a county based junior sports charity that helps young school children develop skills in a variety of sports.

EventCarre Gallery in Sleaford is pleased to announce the winners of the Junior Sports Programme Photography Competition. The judges were Michael Aspinall and Christopher Hodgson from Junior Sports Programme, and gallery director Andrew Fotheringham.

Gymnastics
There was a great turn out to support the club’s gymnasts in the 25th Annual Club Competition on 24 June. The venue was the usual club training facility at the St Peter & St Paul’s School, Western Avenue, Lincoln which was dressed up with bunting and balloons to celebrate the Olympics.

Chantelle Haywood is 11 years old and competes for Newark Athletics Club. She currently holds the under 11 record for Nottinghmashire and was ranked 4th in the UK last year as an under 11.

HockeyLincoln Roses Hockey Club were delighted to receive funding from the Junior Sports Programme to help set up a Junior Hockey section. The money was used to help purchase new equipment and pay for marketing materials used in and around the city.

AthleticsOver 350 children from 27 schools in Lincolnshire took part in the 4th Mini Olympics event organised by Lincolnshire Central School Sport Partnership.

SwimmingOn Saturday 14th July Lincoln Vulcan’s held their club champs presentation evening at Waddington Village Hall. Over 200 swimmers and parents attended the evening.

Discus, Individual Sponsorship
Daniel Fleming is a 15 year old discus thrower. At the time of writing, in the 3 seasons he has been competing in so far, he has become county champion twice, eastern champion twice, 4th place in nationals and finished 8th in the UK rankings for 2011. Daniel also broke the county championships record for discus last season.

Cycling
Many thanks to all of those who took part in the 100 mile Castle 2 Coast 2 Castle (C2C2C) 2012 cycle ride and raised money for The Junior Sports Programme.
130 cyclists took part, cycling from Lincoln Castle, to the East Coast and back again. If that wasn't challenge enough, around mid afternoon those taking part had to contend with thunder storms, torrential rain and flash floods.
Jill Elkington (H E Lettings) and Daniel Race (Hodgson Elkington) accepted a cheque for £5,000 on behalf of the Junior Sports Programme from C2C2C 2012 event organisers Jack O'Hern (Wright Vigar), David Jockel (Lloyds TSB), Claire Grieves (APSS) and David Burgess (Clydesdale Bank).
The money will go towards the Junior Sports Programme's continuing work to provide a source of funding for junior sports clubs, events and individuals in the Lincolnshire and East Nottinghamshire area.

Tennis
It was hard to find a dry day for an outdoor event in 2012, but we almost managed it. Play was suspended for a brief shower after lunch, but on the whole, the weather was kind.

Football
Football kit originally given to the Lincoln United Youth Team some years ago has now been donated to the boys from Stegota FC in Kampala in Uganda.

This year's Castle 2 Coast 2 Castle (C2C2C) event is on the 28th June. At the time of writing there are over 110 cyclists taking part in the 100 mile ride from Lincoln Castle to the Lincolnshire Coast and back to Lincoln Castle.

The Gonerby Girls team was established in 2010 under the Grantham Youth Football League Girls Squad and they played in the U12 County League.

Dodgeball, Pop Lacrosse, Tag RugbyA dodgeball league was set up on behalf of University of Lincoln students on the 28th February at Priory City Academy. Two leagues took place with year groups 7 and 9.

Athletics, Individual SponsorshipBeverly (Lee) Cupit is a 16 year old paralympic from Lincolnshire who broke the junior age records last year for both Shot and Discuss. Lee, who suffers from cerebral palsey and hemiplegia, is currently ranked fifth in the World Junior Rankings for Shot Put.
